Our Saga.

Saga was created on July 15th 2021 by Ben O’Callaghan

The idea for Saga came about during the final of Euro 2021. It was during the peak of the Jack Grealish transfer story, and he had became disillusioned by the sensationalist stories of the story. He kept thinking of how he just wanted a news site he could trust – then it clicked. He had the idea to make a news site that was purely based on reliability rather than sensationalism. The next day he took to twitter to ask his followers if they would want to see a website like this, an overwhelming majority of 68% said that they would want to see this website.

Next up he needed a name. He again took to twitter and asked for suggestions, before a follower by the name of @AVFCHarry_ (@harryrowell95) came up with the suggestion of ‘Transfer Saga’

The very next day, July 15th 2021, our first account was made. “TransferSaga” and “TheTransferSaga” were taken, so the account had to be called “TransferSagaUK”, a good enough variation. On that same day Ben enquired about a logo, and a designer named “Dan” was hired to create our logo. This was then implemented into any further logos we needed to make. You can find his store here

We kept tweeting until soon we were given information for our first exclusive on 4th August 2021. We hadn’t got a website yet – that was to come – but Ben felt confident in the information and posted a tweet saying James Ward-Prowse was close to signing for Aston Villa.

This information was incorrect, and the tweet did very well. In addition to this being our first exclusive, this led many people to assume that it was made up in order to grow the account. This was completely untrue. We had been misled by a source and it resulted in us unknowingly giving out false information. For this we could only apologise.

Despite this setback, we apolgised and kept the tweet up. Some might wonder why, but it is very simple. We do not hide from our mistakes – we learn from them.

A few months after this, we managed to start developing a website – the one you’re using right now.

As the website was in development, O’Callaghan got the idea to also create an account for his second passion – Formula 1. He asked a friend, Jai Jordan, to help him out with it, who agreed. On 24th November 2021, the “Formula1Saga” twitter page was created, with Jordan running the socials and O’Callaghan running the website.

After 2 months in development, numerous twitter users were called in to write articles and on January 7th 2022 we officially launched the “The Transfer Saga” side of the website, with Formula 1 Saga to follow in the future.

Months later, on May 28th 2022, “The Formula 1 Saga” was also officially launched to go along with it. On June 14th 2022, the third chapter of Saga Sport was released with “eSC Saga” being launched on the website and on socials, in order to help promote the newly launched sport.
