Sevilla director of football, Monchi, will leave the Europa League winners to take up a similar role in England with Aston Villa

Various reports earlier today have said that Monchi will join Aston Villa from Sevilla in a 4 year deal, netting him 24 million euros over the duration of the contract.

Sevilla are to receive 3.1 million euros for the loss of Monchi, 500,000 of which will be paid by Monchi himself due to a lack of notice given. The other 2.6 million will be paid by Aston Villa.

Monchi has worked with Unai Emery before at Sevilla, with the partnership bringing an unprecedented 3 Europa League wins in a row – a record which has helped Unai Emery become the most successful manager in the competitions history.

It is not yet known when this deal will be finalised, but an announcement is expected within a weeks time.
